Frederik Schrade – From Student Internship to Young Vampire

Actually, 15-year-old student Frederik Schrade only wanted to do an internship in the bookstore of the Federal Agency for Magical Creatures. Books, stories, and perhaps an insight into the everyday life of a somewhat unusual authority – that’s what he expected. But things turned out differently.

Suddenly, Frederik was not standing between bookshelves, but in the spotlight himself: as a young model for Dark Fashion in elegant Victorian Style. Instead of internship folders, he got trousers in fine jacquard patterns, brocade and velvet waistcoats, and ruffled shirts with fine lace from Boudoir Noir. With a practiced hand, make-up artist Emilia Keil transformed him into a young 19th-century vampire – pale, mysterious, and with a touch of arrogant immortality.

The backdrop for this special experience could not have been more atmospheric: the St. George’s Chapel in the Old Cemetery in Bonn. In its morbid charm, photographer Barbara Frommann perfectly staged Frederik and captured the mix of elegance, gloom, and youthful freshness in impressive images.

In this way, Frederik Schrade unexpectedly gained insight not only into the world of books, but also into the activities of models, make-up artists, and photographers. An internship start that could hardly have been more magical.
